Because studying doesn't just mean writing exams: Last week, a group of students from our (Industrial) Energy Technology course at the Montanuniversität Leoben were able to deepen their theoretical knowledge of power plants, grids and motors. This year's excursion for students lead us to Bavaria and western Austria.

On the very first day in Garching near Munich, students were able to find out about the latest findings in nuclear fusion research at the Max Planck Institute. The following day included the various facets of electricity, from history to generation and distribution to trading at illwerken vkw.

In Imst, the students were welcomed by TIWAG for a tour of the Kaunertal power plant. In the afternoon, they were able to immerse themselves in the world of ÖBB traction current in Innsbruck with our graduate Jonathan Lunzern.

After the visit to Jenbacher, the program included exploring the Tauern substation and APG's Kaprun substation.

In addition to their internships, our students can also see on guided tours how their knowledge secures society's energy supply in reality. A big thank you to all the companies, institutions and experts who took the time to share their knowledge and insights with our students!
