INNOVATE Austria’s Digital Innovation Hub for Agriculture, Timber and Energy

Small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) are the backbone of the Austrian and European economy, drivers of innovation and essential for our prosperity. Digitalisation and innovation skills are crucial for SMBs in order to be able to survive in international competition in the future. Especially in the areas of agriculture, timber and energy (ATE), there is a need to catch up digitally, but also enormous potential to create added value through digitalisation. These sectors dominate the Austrian economic structure and benefit from a sector-focused innovation location in Austria.

There is a particular need for application-oriented, sector-specific high-tech digital programs to fill a gap in the market alongside basic digital programs. INNOVATE pursues a new and distinctive approach by being Austria's national high-tech digitalisation partner in the technology fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Smart Industry and Big Data. Our unique selling point is our special focus on agriculture, timber energy industries. We support SMBs along the entire innovation value chain, all the way to piloting.

The operating organisation combines general digitalisation technology, research and education expertise, digital innovation project experience in our industry fields and business model development.

INNOVATE's goal is to strengthen and advance Austria as a location for innovation, especially in the defined INNOVATE sectors (Agriculture, Timber & Energy).  With our programmes, we find solutions to social challenges, train a highly qualified workforce, create new companies and jobs, and promote the competitiveness and productivity of SMBs.

The Chair of Energy Network Technology is part of the focus group energy and aims to inform small and medium-sized businesses about innovative trends and to support them from the project idea to the implementation of small pilot projects.
